Deputy Medical Director for Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) and Consultant (4 + 6 PAs)

The creation of these Deputy Medical Director posts is the first step in a review of clinical management posts at Lewisham and Greenwich Trust, and part of a much wider transformation programme which will see us reshape ourselves to maximise new technology, meet demand, operate as efficiently as possible and deliver cohesive services which are forward looking and support all staff groups to provide services to our communities.

The Trust is looking to recruit to a Deputy Medical Director with responsibility for the GIRFT and productivity programme. The post-holder will work closely with the Medical Director, the Director of Finance and Divisional Medical Directors to ensure that GIRFT recommendations and increased productivity, planning and organisation of Clinical Projects within the ‘Getting it Right First Time’ Programme are achieved.

The post-holder will also play a lead role in developing the Trust’s clinical leadership programmes for senior doctors.

The appointee will report directly to the Medical Director.

The appointee will devote 4 PAs to the Deputy Medical Director role with the remaining 6 PAs made up of DCC and SPA for the clinical role in their specialty.

The successful applicant will have a strong interest in clinical leadership and strategic development with previous evidence of leadership roles. A commitment to education and training or other evidence of academic achievement will be an advantage.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was established in October 2013, following the integration of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. The Trust provides a comprehensive portfolio of high quality acute healthcare services to a critical mass of more than c.526,000 people living across the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and North Bexley together with a broad portfolio of community services, primarily, but not exclusively, for those living in Lewisham.
