Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust was formed on Tuesday 1st October 2019, following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.

Occupational Therapist - Therapy Led Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Unit

Band: 5

Salary: £24,214 - £30,112

Contract: Permanant

Base: The Vale Community Hospital, Dursley


We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with a passion for delivering the high quality Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation to work in this new centre of excellence. The In-Patient Stroke Specialist Rehabilitation Unit is based at The Vale Community Hospital in Dursley and offers residents of Gloucestershire a dedicated Therapy Led Specialist service in a Community Hospital environment.

Adopting national best practice this unit ensures that people suffering from a stroke within Gloucestershire benefit from a clinical pathway that maximises the health outcomes of those people who are likely to improve with In-Patient Specialist Rehabilitation. There will be close collaborative working with colleagues in the Acute Stroke Unit at Gloucester Royal Hospital and in the Countywide Early Supported Discharge Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician to work in this collaborative Multi-Disciplinary team who shares a philosophy of empowering patients to be more independent and active in their recovery. You will be committed to developing your own skills but also support other colleagues to continually develop and grow their own skills.

You must have excellent communication skills and enjoy the challenges of working with Stroke patients and those with general conditions needing rehabilitation.

There is a well-established governance structure within the Therapy professions across the organisation that the new post holders will be integrated into and there is commitment and dedicated resource for Post Graduate Development. Audit will be an integral element of the service and research activity will be developed as the unit becomes more established.
