Pharmacy IT System Manager

Band 7

The Pharmacy department of the Royal Free London NHS Trust is a friendly, progressive and expanding unit dedicated to providing the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and service in this large, internationally renowned teaching hospital. In July 2014 we expanded as a Trust to include the Barnet and Chase Farm hospital sites making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to work in our Pharmacy department as a manager to be responsible for managing and further developing the provision of a high quality Pharmacy IT service to our users. In this post you will be an integral member of the management team, assisting in the provision of a safe and efficient Pharmacy service.

You will be expected to:

Provide leadership to the Pharmacy IT team, and act as a lead and use technical skills to improve Pharmacy service level.

Manage and actively participate in multidisciplinary education and training

Develop, implement and monitor best practise

Further develop your managerial skills

Support an innovative approach to practise, whilst being aware of boundaries and limitations.

The ideal candidate will be a person with considerable hospital pharmacy experience who has knowledge of the Pharmacy JAC system and experience of database management. Expertise in Microsoft Office products is also essential to support a wide range of Pharmacy staff when using various applications. An interest in Project management would be desirable to help support new areas of service. The post holder will be required to work a 37.5 hour week, and will be required to participate in bank holidays, weekends and late duties. This is a busy but friendly department, some duties are physically demanding. The post holder will be required to have good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Occasional cross site working will be required. Applicants must be able to use their initiative, and be committed to a team approach. Previous managerial experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy would be desirable.
