Urology Fellow

An exciting 12 month opportunity has arisen in our newly expanded department for the post of Urology Fellow. The successful candidate would be working at ST /registrar level and there will be no commitment to the general surgery hot week on call. Some commitment to Urology on call will be expected.

Our 5 consultant unit has a strong commitment to training and this post would be an ideal opportunity for developing core urological skills and equally suited to higher training in urology leading to successful application at ST level. The department offers a full complement of surgery including stone, laser, laparoscopic work, open surgery and an opportunity to observe robotic prostatectomies. The Urology department has a very active link with our Oncology department and is proactive, investing in new technologies including the use of virtual reality.The Trust has its own innovation centre, the Horizon centre.

In addition to supervised training in out-patient and operating theatre settings the successful candidate will be encourage to develop audit projects and research interests in order to enhance their training portfolio.

Torbay Hospital is situated in a lovely part of South Devon. Known as the English Riviera, it offers plenty of beaches, beautiful countryside and temperate weather. Torbay is ideal for water sports enthusiasts and for those who like the countryside. Dartmoor is within very easy reach.

The Hospital itself is situated on the outskirts of Torquay approximately 1.5 miles from the town centre, 4 miles from Newton Abbot and 2 miles from the sea. Plymouth and Exeter are within easy travelling distance.

There are several squash courts nearby and large sports complexes at Paignton and Newton Abbot.
