Sue Ryder The Chantry have an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef to join its well established team of 4 kitchen staff. With straight shifts and sociable hours the new Head Chef will be responsible for the kitchen and provision of high quality food to a variety of texture modified diets.

The Chantry is a Sue Ryder specialist neurological care centre based in Ipswich, caring for people aged 18 and over with a range of neurological conditions.
At The Chantry, we provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs. The Head Chef will play an integral part in supporting this environment.

The Qualifications required for the role are:

• Level 3 Food Hygiene essential, level 4 desirable
• City and Guilds 706/707 1&2 or 7100 or NVQ 3 in general catering/equivalent
• Previous experience of managing kitchens
• Knowledge of regulation, e.g. COSSH, Health & Safety, HACCP

The Head Chef will have proven ability in the following:

• Experience of meeting nutritional needs and requirements on an individual basis.
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work closely with service users and communicate effectively with them
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Demonstrable skills in cooking for large groups of people essential and an ability to cater for varying dietary needs desirable
• Demonstrates a desire to work within a care setting and a flexible approach to catering is essential
• Experience of working in a health and social care setting desirable
• IT literate

We will be looking for a calm, organised, dedicated and efficient Head Chef who can aid us in the transition from frozen pre prepared foods to a fully functioning kitchen environment.
