Help us to transform women’s Secure Services.

Whitlingham Ward is a purpose built 16 bed ward offering a Women’s Secure Service in Norwich. In 2017, we became the first service in the country to offer treatment opportunities to women at both Low and Medium levels of security in one ward, and we have done this whilst completely rethinking our approach to restrictive interventions.

If you would like to be part of a team who are transforming how women in secure settings experience mental health services, then why not come and discuss what we have already achieved and what our plans are for the future..

We offer extensive training opportunities in addition to our existing mandatory and statutory learning package, including Mentalisation Based Therapy training, Learning Disability and Autistic Spectrum Disorder training, trauma informed practice and specific training on supporting women with a diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder. In addition to this, we offer weekly reflective practice sessions and an extensive preceptorship package tailored to your needs.

As part of this transformation, we would like to recruit 2 Registered Nurses to join the team, so if you have the skills, enthusiasm and creativity and want to be part of our journey, we would love to hear from you.

DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CHECK (formerly CRB)
FOR POSTS WITH DIRECT SERVICE USER CONTACT - Please be advised that due to recent changes in the DBS Service, organisations no longer receive copies of DBS Disclosures – these are sent directly to candidates only. Therefore, it will be your responsibility, if successful, to ensure that this is taken to the appointing officer as soon as you receive it.

Alternatively, if you have subscribed to the update service, we will be able to check your status once we have your authority to do so.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
