The Neuroscience Directorate is looking for a full time specialist nurse to lead and develop the nursing support to patients with Dystonia and movement disorders. This post is required as part of a number of key developments being implemented to support this group of patients.

The role involves supporting those with dystonia/ movement disorders, providing a holistic approach to the care & management of these patients.

A key element of the role will be to lead the nurse led delivery of injectable neuro-toxins to this patient group. A practitioner with the necessary qualifications to undertake Independent Prescribing is desirable for this post, or alternatively a willingness to undertake the course as a priority would be required.

In addition the post holder will provide emotional support for patients/carers from the point of diagnosis and throughout their treatment. The post holder will support the current case load of patients alongside the MDT initially with support and after training the post holder will be expected to manage their own case load. The post holder will use their specialist knowledge, skills and experience to provide individualised care, working autonomously as well as within the team of specialist consultants.

This post is suitable for a registered nurse who has proven clinical experience within the field of neurosciences, ideally with experience of nursing those with long term neurological conditions.
