If the answer is yes, we have an exciting, full time opportunity as a Civilian Medical Practitioner at Alexander Barracks in Pirbright working within Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC). We're looking for a highly motivated Civilian Medical Practitioner who'll provide primary and occupational healthcare in line with General Medical Council standards, ensuring patient care is optimised.

We believe in strong clinical leadership and take pride in looking after our staff to enable them to deliver our vision for the future. Our key focus is to allow you to concentrate on supporting your patients and developing your clinical experience. Whilst this role may not have direct Line Manager responsibilities, you'll participate in mentoring of Junior Personnel, sharing your experience and supporting their training needs.

There may be occasions where the successful applicant will be asked to provide cover to other Medical Treatment Facilities within the Region.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Please be aware that if you are found successful you will be asked to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B.

  • Registered General Practitioner
  • Current GMC registration: on GP register with a license to practice
  • Be proficient in relevant IT systems subject to appropriate training being provided.
  • Doctors will provide Certificate of Prescribed Equivalent Experience or Statement of Acquired Rights (now known as CCT) from the Joint Committee in Post Graduate Training in General Practice (JCPGT(GP)). To hold this certificate, they will also have to hold a Post Graduate Training Certificate in General Practice and a Certificate of General Practice Vocational Training (GPVT).

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed, The level of security needed is Security Check.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6 month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.
