Exceptional new opportunities at Moorfields

Founded in 1804, Moorfields Eye Hospital is a world-class centre of excellence for eye health services, ophthalmic research and education. We are true pioneers in the fight to cure blindness. Every year we treat more than 750,000 patients at City Road in central London and at 30 satellites, and, in partnership with the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, we lead one of the most impactful ophthalmic research programmes in the world. We train many of the leading eye care clinicians in the UK and internationally, and have a global reputation for quality and professionalism in ophthalmic care. In addition, Moorfields operates two commercial businesses whose profits support our NHS work: Moorfields Private and Moorfields UAE.

The Moorfields Way is to be caring, organised, excellent and inclusive, and we expect all applicants for our posts to commit to upholding these values.

Hours p/w: 37.5 hours per week, to work flexibly between pharmacy opening hours as per rota. This will include participation in late duties and weekend/bank holiday rotas, as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Apprentice to join our busy and friendly cross-divisional pharmacy department to help support the delivery of frontline outpatient, inpatient, discharge as well as procurement and distribution pharmacy services at the Moorfields North and South Divisional pharmacy dispensaries. The post holder may also be required to travel to the Moorfields City Road site.

We are looking to recruit a motivated individual to join our busy and friendly department as part of our pharmacy team. After suitable training you will be involved in various activities required to support the pharmacy technicians and pharmacists in the dispensary, including taking in and dispensing prescriptions and supporting patients with medication advice and help.

You will also undertake ward stock top ups and inpatient and discharge dispensing under the supervision of the ward pharmacist and senior pharmacy technician.

Other activities included within the job role are to assist in the maintenance of the pharmacy stock from ordering and receiving stock to storing it appropriately.

Whether you are a school leaver returning to work or someone who is looking to make a career move we are interested in hearing from you. Experience is not essential as training will be provided. The successful candidate should be prepared to undertake the required training with the selected training provider under the apprenticeship scheme.
