Occupational Therapist - Community Falls Service, Lewisham

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Community Falls Service based in Lewisham.

We are a small supportive and proactive team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistant Practitioners. As well as home visits to assess and reduce falls risks, the team have a programme of Strength and Balance classes in Lewisham and also provide falls awareness training to older adults as well as health and social care professionals.

This post offers applicants the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills in the field of falls prevention and management. Applicants should have a minimum of 18 months Band 5 experience, including working with older adults and the provision of basic equipment and adaptations. Previous community experience is desirable.

The post holder will be responsible for managing a complex caseload of patient with ranging rehabilitation needs. Excellent communication skills, problem solving and an ability to prioritise a caseload of complex patients are essential.

The team is proactive in audit and research and the post holder will be expected to contribute to service improvement initiatives and actively participate in continuous professional development activities. They will be expected to work closely with partners in health and social care and contribute to the services public health and education agenda.
