Fast forward your paediatric nursing career at St Mary’s Hospital. With five world-renowned hospitals in Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, we are full of opportunity for nurses who are starting out in paediatrics or looking for progression to develop new skills, get involved in quality improvement and collaborate with leading paediatric teams.

Join our dynamic and friendly nursing teams working in our children’s ward providing general and specialist care to the children and families that use our service on Great Western Ward or in Westway ward (our day case unit).

We pride ourselves on our close working relationship with the children’s critical care service, children’s emergency department, children’s community nursing teams and the children’s ambulatory care unit based at Hammersmith Hospital. We have a strong ethos of inter-professional team working.

At St Mary’s you will begin a career pathway of training and education that is individually developed for you. You will be supported by one of our three clinical practice educators working in the department who are responsible for the development of all our undergraduate nursing students, rotation nursing staff and our full time ward staff nurses and sisters.

We run a yearly rotation beginning in September for newly qualified staff nurses which provides the opportunity to learn and develop skills in intensive care, emergency nursing and specialist areas such as surgery, haematology, oncology, infectious diseases and general nursing care.

We can also provide rotation opportunities for more experienced nurses, with a bespoke induction and structured development programme put together by our clinical practice educator based on both the service and your own development needs.

As an academic health science centre with strong links to the universities we are able to offer an ongoing programme of learning and development throughout you career. We also offer internal and external paediatric study days to keep your skills completely up-to-date.
