An exciting job opportunity has arisen, we are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our Aseptic oncology centre pharmacy.

You will be working in our oncology pharmacy as part of a team of experienced technicians and support workers. The unit is open from 8.30 until 17.00 Monday to Friday and 9.00 to 13.00 on Saturdays and prepares chemotherapy for multiple departments across the hospital.

The unit has recently implemented a state of the art IT compounding management system called ‘Medcura’. This is an exciting time in oncology pharmacy and you will be expected to integrate and make a positive contribution to the team who lead the pharmacy service to cancer care.

You will be involved in the preparation of chemotherapy, prioritising and organising workload, performing inspection checks on products and maintaining and developing the appropriate documentation required within an aseptic unit.

Technical training will be given in all relevant areas to support and develop your role, including intrathecal training, supervision of staff and leading a team, alongside training to gain a ‘pre and in process checking’ accreditation. We are also in the process of implementing a new training package for ‘final product approval’ for technicians.

You must be a registered pharmacy technician with the GPhC. You must also be a team player with good communication skills. Experience in Aseptic/oncology preparation would be an advantage, but an opportunity to develop will be provided to help your specialist skills to evolve.
