Nurse - Eye Care Centre

Job Reference: 412-S&C-3070Y

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Eye Care Centre
£24,214 to £30,112 pa

A vacancy has arisen in our busy Ophthalmic Outpatient Department seeing on average 4,500 patients a month, with a variety of Eye Conditions. The job will involve working in a variety of clinics co-ordinating a team of Health Care Assistants, ensuring patients have all tests performed prior to being seen by the Clinicians. One clinic involves working in a Theatre like environment where the nurse is working with a clinician who is giving patients, with a variety of retinal problems, injections in the eye to preserve their sight.

The post holder will not require any Ophthalmic experience as training will be provided. We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated person to join our team who has a positive attitude and who copes well in a very busy environment.

There is a big multidisciplinary team here but we all work well together. The building is quite modern with a new extension two years ago but space is still an issue. We get a lot of very positive comments from our patients with 97% of them saying they would recommend us to family and friends. There is a very low turnover of staff and it is a very popular place to work with Bank staff.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. We are the Lead Employer for Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) which aims to transform, develop and deliver health care services in the community.

The Trust has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following the recent inspection of its services and leadership and Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust has been named a Top40 hospital at CHKS Top Hospital Awards 2019.

Our clinical facilities are excellent, as we have invested in state of the art theatres, Critical Care, Emergency Department and our Childrens Wards (to name but a few). We have also invested in our people, ensuring we have the right number of the right people delivering care, fostering a culture of compassion, support and excellence.

Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire.
