Respiratory Physiology Department

Job Title: Clinical Physiologist/Healthcare Scientist (Respiratory)

Ref :1863

Salary: £24,214 - £30,112 (Band 5)

Full Time 37.5 hours daytime shifts (flexible working is available)

Our Respiratory Physiology team is seeking to recruit enthusiastic clinical physiologists, who are looking to increase their range of skills.

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an internationally recognised specialist cardiothoracic and transplant hospital. The Respiratory Physiology team provides a wide range of essential diagnostics – including routine and advanced lung function tests, cardiopulmonary exercise testing and Oesophageal Manometry. The work of the Respiratory Physiology team is an essential component of patient pathways and the work of the hospital.

The team is looking for new members who can contribute to the team’s patient-centered approach and develop their own clinical skills.

The successful applicant will have a relevant degree and have experience of delivering routine lung function investigations including spirometry, gas transfer, helium dilution, body plethysmography, reversibility studies and field exercise tests (6 minute walks and shuttle). It would be an advantage if the successful applicant has experience in performing advanced lung function investigations, such as respiratory muscle assessments, sniff pressures, nasal nitric oxide, skin prick testing, sweat testing, flight assessments and capillary blood gas measurement, although full training will be given.

This post will be based in the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation, a purpose-built hospital on the world-class Cambridge Biomedical Campus (CBC). The department is looking into a potential cross-site working arrangement between Royal Papworth Hospital and Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
