We are the largest provider of NHS services across the County of Cumbria. Around 3500 staff operate 60 community and mental health services from over 20 main sites and many other premises shared with other health or community services such as GP surgeries. In any one year we see around one fifth of the population providing health care services to people in Cumbria, from newborn babies to care of the frail and elderly. Our services are organised into care groups, designed to put clinicians in control of decision making with patients and carers so that services are run by experts in the clinical area.

The Copeland & Allerdale Night Nursing Service have an exciting opportunity for you to join their team of experienced nurses.

The post is suitable for experienced nurses who are passionate and committed to Community Nursing. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and motivated Registered Nurse who is looking to build on their solid knowledge and skills in a supportive team. Although the team works autonomously throughout the night shift; they are support by a Team Lead and a management structure to ensure they feel part of the overall structure of Community Nursing Services. The successful applicant will have a knowledge of the current Community and Governance agendas and have a commitment to deliver high quality care to a range of patients with differing and usually complex presentations.

Community Staff Nurses are expected to work in partnership with their colleagues assessing patients and delivering care to a range of patients in community settings. The successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently, but in close liaison with all colleagues.

Health and social care teams are working together to improve the overall wellbeing of local people by joining up health and care services, providing more care out of hospital and supporting people to manage their own health. Health and care professionals, GPs, the voluntary sector and the community will work as one team to achieve this. NHS organisations together with Cumbria County Council, District Councils and the community, voluntary and independent sectors are committed to making changes that put Cumbrian people at the centre of our health and care services and this will largely be done through Integrated Care Communities.

Applicants will be expected to have a commitment to working in this area of nursing and be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a changing environment with a flexible approach and be keen to develop as the service demands. The post includes weekend and bank holiday working, as well as extended hours.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £26 + Administration cost of £4.20 = deducted at £10.20 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 2 months.

Enhanced Check: £44 + administration cost of £4.20 = £15.20 deducted from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
