Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

With a special interest in Obstetric Scanning

The Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications from suitable candidates to apply for the post of Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with a special interest in Obstetric Scanning

The appointment will be 10 PAs and includes being non-resident 1:11 on call for obstetrics and gynaecology.

The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital services (at the Great Western Hospital) and community health and maternity services across Wiltshire and parts of Bath and North East Somerset. Such as community hospitals, community nursing, therapists, children's and young people's services.

At the Great Western Hospital we have all of the facilities you would expect to find in a busy general hospital including an Emergency Department, delivery suite, a full range of diagnostics tests such as X-ray, MRI and CT scans, outpatient clinics and21 inpatient wards. We provide these services in a very modern environment ensuring patient have privacy and dignity throughout their care.

The appointee should be trained in all aspects of general obstetrics and gynaecology. It is expected that the appointee will be proficient in managing high risk obstetric cases, obstetric scanning & all aspects of general benign gynaecology.

The post holder will have a broad base of training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and hold full registration with the General Medical Council and have CCT (or equivalent for non-UK applicants of equivalent status), or be accredited (or equivalent), and be on the GMC Specialist Register in the specialty appropriate for this consultant post at the time of taking up the consultant appointment

All new starters with the Trust will be subject to a six month probationary period, with the exception of medical and dental candidates.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
