Registered Nurse Band 5 interventional Radiology Day case Internal Rotation

Registered Nurses are required for one of the UK’s largest NHS Hospitals based at North Bristol NHS Trust in the Imaging Department.

We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated registered nurses to join the Day case team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the New Brunel Building at Southmead hospital. You will be part of a dedicated team of Nurses in providing care for patient’s pre and post Interventional procedures including Vascular, Neurology, Urology and Cardiology. The unit provides care for inpatients transferred from any ward within the Trust during the winter months as well as outpatients.

You must have a current NMC registration. Applicants will ideally have recent experience in nursing surgical patients or have worked in an acute NHS ward. Ideally you will be competent to give IV drugs and undertake phlebotomy however training can be provided for the right candidate. You must be confident in safe decision making and delivering quality care to a group of patients. Staff will also be required to participate in nurse led discharge.

You will be based in Day Case Recovery rotating between day and night shifts

Bristol is well served by road, rail air and cycling links making it ideally placed for access to South Wales, the West Country and further afield. Bristol and Bath are also well served with theatre, cinema and leisure facilities.

  • THE ROLE – As a Staff Nurse, you will play a key role within a team of nursing staff in the delivery of evidence based patient-centred care, which is of a high standard. Key duties will include:
  • To be responsible for assessment, planning, provision, maintenance and evaluation of patient care
  • To be flexible in working across shift patterns covering a 24 hour period
  • To actively contribute to the provision of a good learning environment by taking on the role of mentor/assessor
  • To be the first point of contact for patients who are admitted to the unit.
  • Working within a team of nurses who will be responsible to provide all patients with a high standard of individualized patient care depending on their needs
  • To work in a busy environment where change happens at any time

  • A Registered Nurse with active NMC registration

  • Knowledgeable & understands and adheres to policy and procedures
  • Team Player who is able to work within a team in a busy environment supporting colleagues to provide the best care for the patient
