Occupational Therapist, Band 6

We require an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Occupational Therapist to continue to develop the specialist Occupational Therapy service within community and inpatient mental health learning disability services.

The integrated Greenwich Community Learning Disability Team based in Woolwich, provides specialist health and social care to individuals with a learning disability in Greenwich. Atlas House is a specialist inpatient unit for people with a learning disability and mental health needs and/or challenging behaviour.

As a result of more exciting opportunities in Oxleas we are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a specialist clinical interest and skills in mental health and learning disability. They will be expected to work across Atlas House (2 days per week) and the community (3 days per week) with a clinical focus on mental health in learning disability.

There is a new band 5 post within Atlas House and another band 6 in the community team with the clinical focus of complex physical health in learning disability. The OT Lead for the team is also based within the Greenwich CLDT.

The Oxleas Occupational Therapy service is committed to the Continuing Professional Development of its staff. A well-developed supervision structure, dedicated CPD time, and a variety of training opportunities underpin this. A preceptorship programme for band 5 staff is now well established in addition to development opportunities for staff of all levels.

As a Trust, Oxleas is committed to the on-going development of social inclusion and occupational therapy staff are taking the lead with this agenda. This includes networking and collaborations at local, regional & national levels. Occupational therapy staff are working hard to develop evidence based OT practice in line with care pathways which support their professional interventions demonstrating both QIPP factors and value for money.

The service is respected across the Trust and has an organised professional management structure ensuring our involvement in strategic planning at all levels. Many of our staff work part time or flexibly and the service has a reputation for being very supportive of individual’s needs.
