Job Title: Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist / Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist / Adult Psychotherapist

Salary: £ 39,332 FTE pro-rata

Hours: 17.5 hours per week

Contract: 6 months fixed term until the 31st of March, 2020 (we anticipate this will be extended subject to funding)


The Brandon Centre is a charitable organisation that provides counselling and psychotherapy, parenting courses, contraception and sexual health services for 12 to 25 year olds (14-21 in Islington).

We are looking for a resilient and creative colleague, with a passion for working therapeutically with young people to work at our Drum therapy service in Islington. The successful applicant will have experience working therapeutically with young people aged 14 to 21 years presenting with a range of mental health and emotional problems, including young people with complex difficulties. The applicant will be knowledgeable and experienced in assessment and treatment, including risk management, and have competence in at least one model of psychological therapy. Experience of working with adolescents and young adults is essential.

The post holder will participate in monitoring and evaluation activities and make use of feedback and outcome measures in their work with young people. A capacity for working flexibly within the challenging and interesting context of an easily accessible service for young people must be evident, combined with highly skilled clinical practice. The post holder will join the multidisciplinary team of child & adolescent psychotherapists, adult psychotherapists, and clinical psychologists.

The applicant will have a UK recognised postgraduate training in one of clinical or counselling psychology, child and adolescent psychotherapy, or adult psychotherapy qualified to doctoral level or with equivalent experience. The applicant will also be fully registered with a UK regulating body e.g. BCP, UKCP, BACP, ACP, HCPC.


You will need to be able and willing to work Thursdays 2.00pm – 8.00pm & Fridays 9.00am – 3.30pm at the Drum in Islington. You would also need to attend our team meeting on a Tuesday from 10:30 – 13:00 in Kentish Town. The rest of your working hours can be used for supervision and admin on a Tuesday before and after our team meeting (i.e. 9:30am-10:30am and 1:30pm-3pm).


The post is initially available as a 6 month fixed term contract (until the 31st of March, 2020). We are anticipating that this will be extended subject to funding. Ideally the successful candidate would start with us on the 1st of October, 2019.
