Online applications are invited to apply for a full time locum consultant in interventional radiology commencing asap. This post is fixed term for 12 months.

We are looking for a locum consultant radiologist with subspecialist training in interventional radiology to join our friendly and progressive team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust; a BSIR exemplar site. This is a full time post under the new consultant contract.

The post has been in part created by the centralisation of vascular surgical services to Southampton General Hospital, and as such you will need to demonstrate experience in endovascular aortic intervention, in addition to peripheral vascular intervention, non-vascular intervention and embolotherapy.

The post will be based primarily at Southampton General Hospital and be part of the radiology directorate. Duties will be undertaken in conjunction with consultant colleagues as part of the interventional radiology unit.

In this role, you will be encouraged to develop your area of subspecialist interest in collaboration with colleagues, in addition to providing more general interventional radiology cover as part of the group on a flexible basis. We provide a 24/7 interventional radiology rota as part of a group job plan.

The hospital is a major teaching centre and is the base for the Wessex Radiology Training Scheme. Most of the regional specialist units are located within our trust. We are a major referral centre for intestinal failure and recurrent pelvic cancer surgery, with associated specialist imaging requirements.

Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role. Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible. Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application.
