Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Paediatric Critical Care. The successful applicant will join a team of 8 Paediatric Intensivists working at a dedicated Children’s Hospital.


Sheffield Children’s Hospital provides the regional Intensive Care Unit for South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Lincolnshire. It has funding for 9 intensive care and 8 high dependency care beds.


The Trust provides paediatric tertiary services for the region and is a Paediatric Major Trauma Centre as well as hosting Embrace, the Yorkshire and Humber Infant and Children’s Transport Service. In addition the Trust provides paediatric secondary, community and mental health services for the city.


Candidates who would like to combine this role with another area of interest, such as Anaesthesia, Research or Transport Medicine, are welcome to apply.


Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register or within three months of their expected date of receipt of a CC(S)T at the time of interview. Applicants unable to work full time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
