Applications are invited for a full time consultant Haematopathology post in the Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (SIHMDS) based within Pathology at Barts Health NHS Trust, one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers and the largest trust in the NHS. Together our hospitals - Newham University Hospital in Plaistow, St Bartholomew’s (Barts) in the City, The Royal London in Whitechapel, and Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone - deliver high quality clinical care to the people of East London and further afield. The hospitals offer a full portfolio of services and are home to some of Britain’s leading specialist units.

The SIHMDS occupies part of a modern Pathology & Pharmacy building at the Royal London Hospital site in Whitechapel. It serves the hospitals of Barts Health as well as Homerton University Hospital and several other hospitals in East London and Essex (Queens Hospital Romford, Colchester, Southend and Broomfield). The SIHMDS comprises five different laboratories (histopathology, flow cytometry, haematology, cytogenetics and molecular haematology) co-located in the P&P building. In recognition of the increasing volume and complexity of pathology support required, a new post in Haematopathology has been created. The successful candidate will play a full role in the diagnostic services of the SIHMDS as part of a dedicated team of specialists.

Applicants are required to hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and to be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
