We are a 16 bedded unit and would like you to be part of our team delivering high quality person centred care for older people with functional mental health needs and complex physical health needs. This vacancy is a rare opportunity as we have an excellent staff retention rate on Sandringham ward.

We would support and welcome any Registered Mental Health Nurses, Registered General Nurses, Registered Learning Disability Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses in this exciting role. We support and encourage development and career progression.

There is a comprehensive variety of mandatory training both classroom and in-house. We also provide a wide range of bespoke additional training in house and externally. Topics include: wound care, diabetes, Mental Health Act, transgender awareness, reflective practice days,infection control .

We are proud that we pilot and encourage development of new and exciting initiatives within NSFT. We are currently part of the pilot group for the Red2Green project. We mentor our students using the CLIP model which provides an excellent learning structure for both our students and mentors. We support newly qualified Nurses/practitioners to attend the Newly Qualified Academy as part of preceptorship. There is also an newly qualified support group supporting staff across the Julian site.

As a team we have the opportunity to work independently but we come together by sharing our knowledge learnt and respecting each other by communicating effectively. We encourage staff to develop within lead and link roles within a particular area of interest. We encourage an open forum for our staff to problem solve and make changes to enhance the patient experience.

As a ward we have seasonal parties and events, we support charities such as Macmillan coffee mornings and Christmas jumper day. We run our own annual bake off competition and use any excuse for tea and cake. We take any opportunity to encourage a positive and happy workplace and the well being of staff.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
