Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Higher) CESR Preparation programme in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK.

The post is available from 05 February 2020 for 36 months.

The 36-month fellowship programme in Anaesthetics and Intensive care is aimed at applicants who are planning to apply for equivalence through the CESR process for Anaesthetics. The programme mirrors GMC and the Royal College of Anaesthetists requirements for CESR equivalence for clinical & non-clinical components.

The successful candidates will join an expanding, innovative and dynamic department of 80 substantive Consultants, 32 trainees and 15 Senior Clinical Fellows/Clinical Fellows, providing anaesthetic services in this thriving modern teaching hospital. We are the local hospital for people living in the Cambridge area and a regional/supra-regional referral centre for a number of specialties, including cancer surgery, neurosurgery, transplantation, plastic surgery, vascular and paediatrics. We are also the designated Major trauma centre for East of England.

Addenbrooke’s is the teaching hospital for the University of Cambridge and is a flagship NHS hospital having achieved NHS Foundation Trust status in July 2004. It has strong international links particularly through the University and it is a world-class centre for medical research.

Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and have an FRCA or equivalent qualification at the time of interview.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
