Along with a £2.2 million expansion into our own new unit the urology team is undergoing an exciting development and expanding our nursing team. We have been exceptionally privileged to receive funding from Macmillan to expand our prostate cancer CNS team. At UHS we can offer a wide range of treatments for prostate cancer for approx. 800 new diagnoses a year.

You will work alongside Southampton University, Prostate Cancer UK and Cancer Research UK to offer a large portfolio of research trials. We also have the first centre for immunology within our grounds we are lucky to be able to offer our patients’ trials right throughout their cancer pathway. We have Research nurses from both our own research team and CRUK.

This post comes at an exciting time as we change our diagnostic pathway within our new unit. The right candidate will be given the support to develop themselves, their professional career and service to meet the needs of our team and our patients. You will work alongside and offer support to the rest of our prostate cancer team. This includes 2 band 7 CNS covering both newly diagnosed patient and men with advanced disease. We also have a prostate patient triggered follow up team that keep a watchful eye on approximately 1000 men on surveillance.

We are looking for an experienced nurse who is ready to develop and use their knowledge of urology and prostate cancer to support our patients and families. You will be encouraged to work autonomously and undertake your own clinics as well as support the consultants in our multi-disciplinary prostate clinic. You will have the support of our fun and friendly team and the support of Macmillan sponsorship. We are all committed to our patients and the future of urology so the right person will be encouraged to progress their skills and be welcomed into the team.
