Chief Medical Officer

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) is one of the largest mental health Trusts in the country. The past few years have been challenging for the Trust, re-entering Special Measures in 2017. Over the past year, we have done much to start delivering the improvements needed, including building a new board, led by Chair Marie Gabriel CBE and Chief Executive Professor Jonathan Warren. Our vision is to be in the top of quarter of mental health Trusts for quality and patient safety by 2023.

Our Chief Medical Officer is retiring later this year, so we are seeking someone to join our board of dedicated executive colleagues and support us to realise our vision. Providing influential clinical leadership, you will inspire our clinicians and staff to think beyond the medical model, embrace new ways of working and take a multidisciplinary team approach to ensure we provide holistic and appropriate solutions to our service users.

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience of working at board or deputy medical director level (or similar). You will have:

  • excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • a strategic mindset and an ability to identify innovative solutions to challenges
  • a track record of incorporating research and best practice into clinical services
  • a legacy of being a driving force behind service improvement
  • passion for ensuring meaningful involvement of service users and carers in the planning, development and monitoring of services

Therefore, it will be your responsibility, if successful, to ensure that this is taken to the appointing officer as soon as you receive it.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
