Locum Specialty Doctor in Orthodontics

4 PAs

 

 

Applications are invited for a part-time (4 PAs) Locum Specialty Doctor in Orthodontics based at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is to cover a period of maternity leave and would be available from the 1st October 2019 for a period of 6 months.

Ashford and St. Peter’s is a large acute Trust in West Surrey and one of the largest in the region. Ashford Hospital lies close to Heathrow Airport. St. Peter’s Hospital is situated between Chertsey and Woking. The two hospitals serve a diverse population of around 450,000 on the borders of Surrey and Middlesex. This area includes Cobham, Woking, Chertsey, Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, Ashford, Staines, Bedfont, Feltham and Spelthorne.

The Orthodontic department is led by four part-time Consultants; Karen Clarke, Claire Hepworth, Dina Slater and Nick Hemmings. The department is a strong training unit with 2 StRs in specialist training linked to the Royal London Hospital, I full time FTTA linked to the Eastman Dental Hospital and 1 part-time Associate Specialist in Orthodontics.

It is essential that the successful applicant is proficient in a full range of orthodontics applicable to work in a busy District General Hospital setting, and a team player for collaborative work with Maxillofacial Surgery Consultants for patients who require orthognathic surgery and complex dentoalveolar work.


Inclusion on the General Dental Council Specialist List in Orthodontics is essential. A full person specification is available with the job description. The successful candidate will be appointed under the current terms and conditions of service for NHS Specialty Doctors.
