Are you interested in making a positive difference in the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people? Are you passionate about supporting those who care for, look after and educate the next generation? Do you want to work in a service that’s aim is to ‘help the helpers?’

The successful candidate will work as an Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (EHWP) in the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service (EHWS). The EHWS is a dynamic and growing service supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We have staff from backgrounds including Social Work, Nursing, Health Visiting and Clinical Psychology.

The team are working hard to implement outcomes of the Government’s 2017 Green Paper, Transforming Children and young People’s Mental Health Provision. The role is varied, but consists of providing the following:

  • Providing a duty line for professionals, supporting to ‘system navigate,’ think about what service, when and how to refer.
  • Working closely with the rest of the EHWS, including referring to Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP’s) for direct work.
  • Supporting staff (mainly in education), through training, drop in clinics and wellbeing staff support sessions.
  • Running ‘forums’ to bring the schools newly appointed ‘mental health champions’ together, to upskill education staff and support them to improve their school’s provision around emotional and mental health
  • Conducting classroom observations and potentially brief work with children, to ensure that the most appropriate advice and guidance is provided.

The post holder will be based at the City Health Clinic in Wellington Street Peterborough.

This is a fixed term contract with the possibility of funding being available to extend the contract at the end of the term.
