Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) is an ambitious, organisation positioned to deliver real improvements in safety, outcomes and experience for its local population of 440,000.

BCCG is responsible for planning, organising and purchasing NHS funded healthcare for people living in Bedfordshire. It is run and led by local clinicians, including GP's, nurses and hospital doctors. Our overall aims are to ensure innovative, responsive and effective clinical commissioning and that our population has access to the highest quality healthcare providing the best patient within available resources. We achieve this by working in partnership with our member practices and localities, with patients and the public, with local councils and other healthcare providers.


This is an exciting opportunity to join the Quality Directorate in Bedfordshire & Luton Clinical Commissioning Groups.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, experienced, and enthusiastic individual to the role of Named GP for Safeguarding Children and Adults. The post holder will work within our existing safeguarding networks and provide expertise, clinical leadership and training for professionals across the health system.

A flexible and calm approach is essential for this role, as is the ability to lead on work, and work to tight deadlines with multi-disciplinary staff.

The post holder will need to be a working GP and be able to demonstrate experience in safeguarding children and adults, plus knowledge of the national and local guidance, including priorities.

The post holder will support Bedfordshire CCG, Luton CCG and local health care providers, including primary care, to meet their statutory obligations.

The Named GP will work in collaboration with the Designated Doctor and Nurses and the broader Safeguarding and Quality Team.

Participation in any single and multi-agency case reviews, including serious case reviews, serious adult reviews and domestic homicide reviews is a key role, providing specialist safeguarding medical advice as required.
