The Tower Hamlets ‘Open Doors’ Practice Nurse Development Programme is recruiting now!

Practice Nurse (up to four posts) fixed term two-year training contract, full time £29,800

  • Employed by General Practices teams in Tower Hamlets (London)
  • Funding and day release provided for City University London BSc (Hons) in Primary Care (Practice Nursing.)

Tower Hamlets is a supportive, exciting borough that provides excellent opportunities for those wishing to develop a career in Primary Care Practice Nursing. Working to reduce inequalities and discrimination in health and to support the Government initiatives to move care closer to home, the GP Care Group aims to provide quality care in the community, reducing the time patients spend in hospitals. The programme, hosted by the GP Care Group’s ‘Open Doors’ team of dedicated and experienced Practice Nurse Clinical Tutors, is fully supported by funding from Health Education England, who are funding the University fees and contributing to the salary of trainee Practice Nurses. Applicants must be prepared to work in a General Practice setting anywhere in the borough of Tower Hamlets.

The Practice Nurse Development programme: ‘Open Doors’ is now a well-established project which has been successfully providing education for staff working in General Practice settings in Tower Hamlets since 2008. If you are successful, you will study for a BSc. (Hons) or Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Care, (Practice Nursing) at City, University of London, working as a trainee General Practice Nurse in a GP practice with a special contract designed and overseen by the Open Doors team. We have funding for up to four nurses. The programme and practice employment start on 5 February 2020. Interview and assessment dates: Tuesday 27 August 2019 (appointments given.) Candidates who are successful at this stage will be invited to:

First interviews with Practice teams: Tuesday 10 September 2019. Final interviews in practices will be arranged after this date.
