Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor post in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust

The successful candidate will join a department of 34 Consultants, and 30 trainee and Specialty Doctors covering a 5 tier on-call.  Watford General Hospital is a busy District General Hospital with a 19 bedded ICU situated just outside London.  St Albans City Hospital is an Elective Surgery Centre.

 The post is full time 12 PA’s working a full-shift timetable and will include both ICU and theatre work. 

The post will involve taking part in an out of hours rota (including weekends) at Watford as one of the resident doctors in ICU.

Time will be allocated to complete clinical audit projects.  The Specialty Doctors have an identified Consultant representing their needs as well as a Specialty Doctor representative who is able to attend Consultant departmental meetings.  The successful applicant will be supported to pursue a personal development plan appropriate to them, whether it is studying for exams, training to be a trainer, maintaining skills or developing new ones.

 There is an active and well-equipped Postgraduate Centre and close academic links are maintained with the Imperial School of Anaesthesia. 

It is essential that the applicant holds a full GMC registration.

The post is not recognised for training.

Hertfordshire has good facilities including excellent schools.  The hospitals are well placed for travel into London and there is easy access to three airports and the motorways north.
