The department has three matched Varian IX Linacs with CBCT, a Toshiba Wide Bore CT scanner, Prosoma virtual simulation and an Eclipse planning system to support the planning and delivery of external beam treatment. A High Dose Rate Brachytherapy service provides treatment for urological, gynaecological, Upper GI, Lung and Skin cancers. Superficial Radiotherapy is provided using 100KV SXR and we are working toward the introduction of 'Papillon' for the treatment of Anal Cancer.

The department has a well-established IMRT programme and a rapidly developing IGRT programme. We also deliver lung SABR treatments. We have introduced Radiographer-led Breast mark up and Radiographer-led on-treatment review and we are also actively involved in a broad range of clinical Radiotherapy trials.

The post holder will be required to participate in the day to day provision of safe and accurate external beam treatment activities. They will be involved in the delivery of VMAT, IGRT, fiducial marker matching and DIBH techniques, and in the development and implementation of new techniques. They will also rotate through other areas of the department, including pre-treatment and Brachytherapy, allowing the opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical Radiotherapy experience.

The post holder will also be expected to work flexibly to cover our extended working day and also participate in the on call service.
