Are you a Band 5 or 6 Speech & Language Therapist looking to work in the area of neurological rehabilitation? If so this could be the role for you!

The post is based at Holywell inpatient Neurological unit in Watford, West Hertfordshire. You would be joining an MDT that includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychology, Dietitians, Rehab Assistants, medical and nursing staff, housekeepers and volunteers.

The role involves working with patients with speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders following Stroke, Head injury and Progressive neurological conditions. You should have experience of working with these clinical client groups and also be fully dysphagia trained. The MDT role involves being a key worker to support patient goal setting, managing the rehab journey and discharge planning. The ability to work autonomously and be an advocate for the communication and swallowing needs of patients is also a key requirement.

The post is embedded in the MDT at Holywell but it is also very much part of the wider community SLT team for West Hertfordshire which manages the full range of acquired conditions. The post is professionally and operationally line managed by the SLT service. There are also very strong links to the acute SLT team at Watford General Hospital.So if you are looking for a change of clinical focus, a development role or an opportunity to join a forward thinking rehab team then this is the post for you!

In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £1,017 and a maximum payment of £1,762 per annum (pro rata where applicable).

A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential for community posts (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Please note that from 1/10/19 adult community services in West Hertfordshire will be transferring from Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to Central London Community Health NHS Trust. This post is subject to that transfer.
