We are the largest provider of NHS services across the County of Cumbria. Around 3500 staff operate 60 community and mental health services from over 20 main sites and many other premises shared with other health or community services such as GP surgeries. In any one year we see around one fifth of the population providing health care services to people in Cumbria, from newborn babies to care of the frail and elderly. Our services are organised into care groups, designed to put clinicians in control of decision making with patients and carers so that services are run by experts in the clinical area.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive adult Speech Therapy team covering Carlisle and Eden localities. The post will involve working in an out patient clinic in the Cumberland Infirmary, and providing a service throughout the Carlisle area as part of our Speech and Language Therapy team.

The post will include providing a communication and swallowing service in Carlisle locality. There are also opportunities for development in other specialities. This post has a focus on provision of a service to care homes providing appropriate support to prevent hospital admissions.

The post is also supported by a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist and a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant with the aim of providing a holistic service.

The post holder will be expected to work with a range of teams, as throughout the Trust multi disciplinary working is recognised as key to providing a quality service.

The department supports structured clinical supervision, regular appraisal, and continuing professional development. You will receive mentoring and support from the Clinical Lead.

The successful candidate must have well developed communication skills, possess a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and be a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (or equivalent) and be fully HPC registered.

Access to transport and the ability to travel throughout the Carlisle and Eden locality are essential

Enhanced Check: £44 + administration cost of £4.20 = £15.20 deducted from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
