Assistant Service Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Women’s & Children’s Division as a Band 6 Assistant Service Manager.

The post holder will be part of a small operational management team of two Assistant Service Managers, a Service Manager and Divisional General Manager. This provides opportunity for development and exposure across the trust.

Experience of RTT, Cancer standards, and Medical rota co-ordination are essential for this post.

Managing an admin / secretarial team, the post holder must possess excellent communication and leadership skills and have the ability to prioritise their own and team’s workload.

This is a permanent post and you will be required to work 37.5 hours per week.


The role will involve:


  • Working closely with the Divisional Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager to address the service needs.


  • Addressing issues relating to local and national targets and ensuring standards are maintained to support the smooth running of the Division.


  • Addressing incidents and ensuring these are completed in a timely manner.


  • Attending meetings; agreeing action plans and time lines and feeding back to team.


  • Assisting the Divisional Service Manager and participating in the formulation of the Local Delivery Plan.


  • Participating in the Divisional Floor Manager Rota.


  • Assisting and maintaining the establishment control and implementing and maintaining systems of control for delegated budgets.


  • Holding relevant meetings to keep an overview on Divisional budgets and Workforce.


  • Taking responsibility for the development and implementation of systems to sustain and improve service delivery.


  • Ensuring that links are established and maintained and that service changes/developments are communicated to staff accordingly within the Division, other departments within the Trust and to outside agencies to acquire agreement and cooperation, as necessary.


  • Taking line management responsibility for Administration & Clerical staff in area of responsibility.
