Renal Department - Registered Nurse (Rotational post)

The Renal department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is keen to recruit talented nurses to join our friendly, supportive and dynamic team. Clinical areas include Langley Ward, the Jack Pryor dialysis unit, the Home Therapies Department and the Cromer and District Hospital satellite dialysis unit. The department is expanding as we venture into a period of development which will expand our current facilities and therefore offer exciting new career opportunities.

We are offering a rotational post to enable nurses to work across our acute ward, the specialist dialysis units and home therapy. The Nephrology department is incredibly fortunate to have an in-house education Sister who provides a robust programme of induction and will deliver a comprehensive training package. You can expect a period of supernumerary training and will be well supported by experienced staff and clinical educators.

Our service consists of:

  • A 33 bedded inpatient ward where the nurse will gain knowledge of caring for patients with acute kidney injury, diabetes and a range of medical conditions. Acute dialysis and plasma exchange treatments are provided here too. Nurses become well trained is complex discharge and mental health provision, helping patients to remain safe.
  • 28 haemodialysis stations facilitate the outpatient dialysis service on the Jack Pryor Unit where you will be trained to deliver Haemodialysis therapy. This is supported by 9 additional haemodialysis stations at Cromer. This is a complex skill which nurses facilitate, giving patients the best outcomes.
  • Patients on home dialysis and peritoneal dialysis are managed by the home team. As part of our rotation our nurses can work within and alongside this speciality team rounding their ability and expertise.

The renal department has a rich pool of Specialist Nurses keen to impart their knowledge helping you to enhance your patient care.

Hours of work: Langley ward works a full shift pattern of days, nights and weekends. The Jack Pryor Unit works from 7:00am to 10:30pm Monday to Saturday. Full and part time hours available
