Ramsay Unit is a purpose built, Dementia Assessment Unit for 15 Older Adults based at Dane Garth, Furness General Hospital.

We are looking for Band 5 Registered Nurses to be part of our Inpatient Dementia Assessment team and this is an exciting opportunity to develop skills in person centred holistic care, the post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, utilising the skills and experience in Mental health, Physical health, or Occupational Therapy. The available posts are Band 5 and we are looking for motivated staff to be part of our award winning team. Being able to communicate effectively with both patients and staff is essential as you will be responsible for providing information and support to relatives/carers and co-ordinate links into other services. You are required to provide a safe therapeutic environment that promotes the individual daily living skills, and maintains the individual’s independence as long as possible through therapeutic occupational needs and Wellbeing.

Depending on experience and qualification the post will also entails taking responsibility as shift leader of the ward and nurse in charge; this will also include managing a team within the named nurse model and all aspects regarding the delivery of care. The unit can be very busy that requires individuals to often work under pressure with accuracy to manage the complex needs of individuals with challenging behaviours due to emotion, psychological and/or physical need. The position requires you may be required to work night duty on a rotational basis,

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a future development within Memory Matters and Later Life services. We aim to inspire and empower staff through person centred leadership to undergo significant change within a clinical environment to develop a “Nurse Led unit” (principally managed and run by nurses) with a very strong confident motivated team which includes Nurse Consultant, Psychologist, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Wellbeing Practitioner, Assistant Practitioners, Health Care Assistant and Admin Staff.

We would welcome expressions of interest from Mental Health, General Registered Health Nurses who would like to be part of our Clinical team and our award winning service.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

As part of our plans to strengthen the quality of mental health, learning disability and CAMHS services we are able to offer to patients in Cumbria, we are planning to transfer services in north Cumbria to Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW) and services in south Cumbria to Lancashire Care Foundation Trust (LCFT) on 1st October 2019 subject to final approval.

This therefore means that if you are appointed to this post, your employment will transfer from Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to NTW or LCFT, but you will retain your current terms and conditions (including pay). More information on the transfer can be found on our staff website.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £26 + Administration cost of £4.20 = deducted at £10.20 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 2 months.

Enhanced Check: £44 + administration cost of £4.20 = £15.20 deducted from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
