The Role


3 Locum Resident Consultants in Paediatric Medicine - 10PAs

Fixed term, initially 6 months.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a modern purpose-built and aesthetically pleasing environment with a reputation for high quality integrated care and a wide and expanding range of specialist paediatric services. We are pleased to invite applications for 3 fulltime (10PA) locum Resident Consultants in Paediatric Medicine as part of a new team to provide 24/7 inpatient paediatric consultant delivered care.

These are 10PA posts, based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The main role, as part of a team of 3 ward based and 6 PED based resident consultants, is to ensure access to an immediate on site 24 hour consultant paediatrician medical opinion and review. The successful candidate will work a shift based rota and will be resident on the paediatric wards at night 1 in 6.

Whilst covering the wards, and Paediatric HDU, the resident consultant is responsible all paediatric inpatients, for shift management, supervising junior STs in their decisions, and ensuring the department is performing to meet the required indicators.

During the day the successful candidate will work across the inpatient wards and PHDU. They will join the team of current consultant paediatricians who provide a weekly attending rota running the PHDU/burns service and the wards with a particular focus on our short stay pathway.

Applicants would be expected, as part of the team, to be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training as well.
