We are looking for a highly motivated and committed Deputy Medical Director who will support the Medical Director in providing professional leadership across the Trust.

Your role

The Deputy Medical Director plays a key role in supporting the Medical Director to discharge this function effectively. You will work collaboratively with the Medical Director, Clinical Directors and Executive and Assistant Directors to develop the Trust’s clinical effectiveness strategies and systems and to inspire and develop the highest standards of clinical practice across the organisation.

You will support the design and development of clinical pathways and services to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients

You will support the role of Caldicott Guardian, Responsible officer and CEA for HCT.


The post is part time (4 PAs), fixed term contract until March 2020. The Trust would consider job sharing opportunities. It is expected that the successful candidate will continue to provide clinical services in their professional field.


Your experience

You will have some knowledge and experience of the role of the Responsible Officer in revalidation and in dealing with doctors and dentists in difficulty. You will have strong leadership and management skills, as well as excellent communication skills and will be an effective and influential team player at a very senior level.

A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
