Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire.


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible individual to undertake the role of APA in Respiratory, on a six month fixed term basis. The main duties of the role are:

  • Supporting the PAs in providing secretarial support to the Consultants.
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries.
  • Audio-typing.
  • Inputting data onto the hospital database.
  • Dealing with the general public/Doctors/Nurses/Other Professionals allied to healthcare.
  • General administration duties (e.g. filing, copying).
  • Updating patient’s RTT pathways.

Applicants should be highly motivated and be able to demonstrate working on their own initiative, but also as part of a team. You will need to be flexible with a willingness to learn. You will need excellent communication skills when liaising with multi-disciplinary professionals. Ideally you will have some NHS experience and possess good IT skills.

The successful candidate will possess RSA II or equivalent and have proven secretarial and good time management skills. Previous medical secretarial experience will be advantageous.

A good knowledge of RTT Pathways is also essential.
