We have an opportunity to recruit 4 Trust Senior House Officers for a period of 12 months, to start as soon as possible in Care of the Elderly.

Required working hours are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, with the option of on-call work.

Watford General Hospital is a busy General Hospital with an active AAU with excellent support from radiology and specialist physicians to provide rapid diagnosis and effective treatment to smooth the patients’ journey from acute to primary care. We work closely and cooperatively with the Primary Care providers and adult care services for bed and home-based care.

The Trust provides excellent training comparable to that for deanery positions. Many previous holders of these positions have been encouraged and attained deanery training positions.

The Department of Medicine for the Elderly has 10 consultant posts with subspecialty interests including Ortho-Geriatric Medicine, Movement Disorder, Dementia, Delirium and Continence. The Stroke Team, working within this department, provide excellent Hyper-Acute Stroke Services. The department also plays a very active role in the local provision of Intermediate Care.

Watford General Hospital and is situated in a pleasant part of Hertfordshire and affords easy access to London (1/2 an hour by train) and to other parts of England via the M1 and M25 Motorways.
