The Neighbourhood Night Service is a forward thinking, dynamic team that is continuously looking to improve and develop as the demand for the service we deliver changes. We are seeking to appoint an administration assistant to support the Senior Nurse and work as part of our award winning nursing team to ensure that we deliver outstanding patient care.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a service that really has an impact on patient care. We offer personal development and job satisfaction - knowing that you have had a real impact on the patient experience.

A full tailored induction programme will be supported and ongoing development encouraged.

This is a busy service and your main role will be to be the first point of contact for patient telephone calls.

You will need to take messages clearly and deal with information that is both confidential and sensitive and occasionally distressing in nature. It will be your role to ensure that calls are passed to the senior nurse for triaging in an efficient manner to enable patient care to be prioritised.

You will also be taking calls and dealing with clinical team members and supporting them with sharing of patient information and use of information technology. You will provide a full range of administrative support overnight to the whole team.

The hours of work are 21:15pm-07:15am (with 30 minutes unpaid break). This is across seven days per week, including weekends and bank holidays and shifts will be allocated on a rota basis. You will get a minimum of 4 weeks notice of your rota.

Customer service skills are essential as you will be dealing with patients who are often in a difficult situation. Excellent telephone manner is vital.

A calm personality is essential as this is a busy service with conflicting priorities and you will need to ensure that you remain calm and professional at all times.

You need to be able to pass on messages clearly, accurately and in a timely manner.

You will have excellent IT skills as you will be using electronic patient records to record all calls made and received. You will also be a point of contact for staff who require IT support overnight.

You will need to be able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

You will have excellent problem solving skills to support the senior nurse on duty with ad hoc issues that arise, for example, staff sickness impacting on planned work.

You will have considerable administrative experience. NHS and SystmOne experience would be an advantage, though not essential.

Flexibility within the team is essential to ensure that there is support available to the service seven nights per week.
