Wirral University Teaching Hospital is looking for highly motivated and dynamic clinician to join our existing team of Emergency Medicine Consultants. The successful candidate will join our recently expanded consultant establishment of 12 WTE. This expansion reflects a strong commitment by the Trust to invest in acute care and has enabled a substantial increase in consultant presence in the Emergency Department.

We are looking for a high quality, energetic, individual with a passion for providing excellent patient care within the Emergency Department setting. This is a 6 month post and whilst the post will have a strong emphasis on direct, consultant delivered, emergency care, we are seeking applicants who will also have the abilities to make a major contribution to the training and development of our junior medical staff, extended role nursing staff and the wider professional team. We would welcome applications from established consultants and those looking for their first consultant post. Applications from candidates with a special interest or dual CCT are encouraged and a Paediatric Emergency Medicine CCT would be an advantage.

Successful applicants will be based at Arrowe Park Hospital, a large district general hospital serving a population of about 400,000 people on the Wirral Peninsular. There are approximately 96,000 new patient attendances to the department annually, of which 25% are children. There is a modern Children’s Emergency Department adjacent to the main ED which has a collocated paediatric assessment unit. The Trust is accredited as a Major Trauma Unit within the Cheshire & Mersey Major Trauma Network.

The post is a 10PA full time position.
