The Focus CAMHS team at SWYPFT provides both generic and forensic mental health provision to young people at HMYOI Wetherby and Adel Beck Secure Children’s home (SCH), working in partnership with Leeds Community Healthcare to provide an integrated healthcare service. The service also includes a community Forensic CAMHS team.

HM Wetherby YOI which is the largest secure provision in the country for young people. It also accommodates two national units, one for long term sentencing and The Keppel Unit for a particularly vulnerable group of young people. The population is male aged between 15-19.

We are currently in the process of commencing implementation of the secure stairs framework at Wetherby YOI. This service development will see the introduction of a developmentally and trauma informed mental health service model. Most young people received into secure care are known to have multiple unmet health and mental health needs and high risk behaviors that have persisted over time. They may or may not meet the diagnostic criteria for multiple disorders, but their needs and risks can be understood as arising from traumatic life events and disrupted relationships, often beginning in early childhood. These needs and risks can best be met by using a psychologically informed approach to support the residential staff and other professionals in their day to day work with the young people, because supporting these relationships and supporting staff in their daily interactions will assist young people in acquiring the skills necessary to manage their moods and behavior more effectively.

To support the development of the secure stairs framework, we are looking to expand our CAMHs team at Wetherby YOI. We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Administration Officer / Secretary. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team through change, data entry, liaison with stakeholders and other services, typing of extensive reports and formulations. It will also involve inbox and diary management, audio and copy typing, minute taking, and general administrative support to the team. You will be joining a fast paced and changing environment. Previous experience and confidence in the use of Microsoft packages us essential. The successful candidate will require exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with a strict dedication to confidentiality. Previous experience of Trust IT systems would be desirable although all training will be provided in this area. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills, with a drive to help the team maintain consistently high service standards. Enthusiasm, accuracy and an eye for detail are essential to the role as well as a collaborative approach to problem solving. The post will nominally be based at Wetherby YOI, although will require some travel due to attendance at meetings and cover across the service.

This post is fixed term until March 2020.
