Our Trust has a number of Registered Nurse vacancies across Medicine, Surgery, & Paediatrics and we guarantee you a Registered Nurse post within the Trust, (subject to a satisfactory interview and pre-employment checks)

We will provide you with a stimulating and supportive environment in which you can develop and actively participate in the delivery of a high standard of patient care. As newly qualified practitioners, you will receive a period of Preceptorship and the Band 5 Registered Nurse Core Competency Framework (available in all areas) will detail the core competencies required to fulfill the Band 5 nursing role in any area within the Trust.

As a newly registered professional within the Suffolk and North East Essex health and care system, your first year in the organisation will be supported by a comprehensive preceptorship package including:

  • A minimum initial preceptorship period of 12 months
  • An appropriately trained preceptor from day one and a minimum of 12 days direct working time with your preceptor
  • Opportunities to complete a transitional learning needs analysis
  • Access to four bespoke sessions for your continuing professional development (CPD) on the subjects of resilience, communication, professionalism, and integration
  • Opportunities to network with other newly registered professionals in your locality
  • Opportunities to undertake inter-professional shadowing across organisations.

As a thank you for joining the West Suffolk Hospital, we are offering all new* Band 5 Staff Nurses a welcome payment of £1,500 on appointment and a further £1,500 if you remain with the Trust after a year of employment.

*Previous West Suffolk Hospital employees must have a gap of over 6 months since their last employment with the Trust to be eligible for this payment.

Contractual terms will apply – employee’s leaving the Trust within the first or second year of employment will be required to repay a percentage of this payment on a sliding scale.

If you are an overseas applicant and need to complete the IELTS exam to be able to register with the NMC then the Trust will fund 1 attempt at the exam. If required the Trust will fund the cost of one additional IELT / OET from Level 6.5 to Level 7 / OET grade C+ to grade B.
