The Service

Wellbeing Norfolk and Waveney is a high performing Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service which is delivered as part of a well-established partnership between Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT), Mind and Relate. Our IAPT service provides community orientated, evidence-based psychological therapies for people from the age of 16 with common mental health problems of anxiety and low mood with a range of presentations.

Wellbeing Norfolk and Waveney is expanding, and we are beginning to work with people living with Long Term Conditions (physical health problems). We will offer evidence based psychological treatments to help individuals to live well with their condition, and strengthen links with key physical health colleagues in our area.

We are recruiting to both qualified and trainee positions.

Qualified: candidates must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT and be accredited, or be accreditable, with the BABCP.

Trainee: candidates must hold a BABCP recognised core profession or prepare a KSA entry route portfolio prior to interview. Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners should have a minimum of two years post qualification experience in line with national IAPT guidelines.

Applications from some core professions from a physical health background with experience of working with mental health conditions can also be considered.

  • If you are invited to an interview, you must bring with you any academic qualifications, certificates and evidence you hold, as applicable. Offers cannot be made without this information.
  • If you do not have a BABCP recognised core profession you must follow the KSA procedure and prepare your portfolio prior to the interview. You will need to bring this to the interview and may be asked to submit this a least one week prior to your interview if you are shortlisted. The KSA will be scrutinised by the course KSA lead who may ask you further questions about your portfolio at interview and if you are successful they will give you feedback on which areas require further work to be completed by the end to the training. You will submit your portfolio again during the course to be marked after undertaking the required actions.

There will be a learning agreement in place between the trainee and the employer.

The Role

The trainee CBT position includes undertaking the PG Diploma in High Intensity CBT at the University of East Anglia. Training takes place over one academic year and involves spending two days per week at university and the remainder of the week in practice at your work place.

You will provide high intensity interventions to adults with a range of anxiety disorders, depression and trauma related problems. This is an opportunity to join an established team of Psychological Therapists providing a range of NICE compliant treatments at Step 3. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Primary Care Counsellors, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners and Employment Advisors. Therapists within Wellbeing provide brief time-limited therapy and are expected to spend 55% of their time providing treatment interventions to clients. The Wellbeing Service has a number of Key Performance Indicators (targets) and clinicians are supported to achieve these. Clinical and case management supervision is provided within the service.

Experience of working in Primary Care will be an advantage. As well as 1:1 work you may be expected to co-facilitate group interventions. For the delivery of group work we provide training and additional support, should you need it. On completion of training the post holder will contribute to the on-going development and evaluation of the service.

The Location

The posts will be based in our Norwich, South, East and North Norfolk teams. Each team has a main hub however most therapists work within community venues; therefore, being able to drive is essential. It may also be required for the therapist to cover other areas of Norfolk & Waveney within reasonable distance as service demands require.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
