The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.




An exciting post for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join as a Laparoscopic Consultant in Colorectal and General Surgery within Kings College Hospital Foundation Trust, Princess Royal University Hospital Site.

The successful applicant will join a team of four Consultants providing complete pathway solutions from initial triage and assessment to surgery and post-operative care. The post holder will be expected to support the colorectal and general surgery service alongside existing Consultants and specialist nurses as part of the multi-disciplinary team approach to care. He/she will provide high quality outpatient, day case and inpatient care to local patients and support the cancer waiting time standards and RTT 18 weeks. Their work is supported by an on call rota which includes other Consultant General Surgery colleagues.

The Princess Royal University Hospital Campus

The Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), at Farnborough Common, Orpington, Kent is an acute district general hospital. It has 525 funded beds, and approximately 80,000 emergency attendances per annum. It serves a population of about 500,000 from Bromley and Bexley. The services currently provided include: Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Acute and General medicine with sub-specialties including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Acute Frailty Unit, Elderly Care, Intensive Care, Oncology, Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maternity and Paediatrics, Hyper acute and Acute Stroke services for provided for the South East Sector of London. The PRUH is a Level 2 Trauma Unit and a member of the TARN.

The hospital is based in outer South East London in the London Borough of Bromley. The area provides fast public transport links into central London via mainline railway connections. The borough is a highly sought after area due to it many well-regarded primary and secondary schools. Bromley is a key leisure and retail destination within South London and regularly appears in the list of the annual top 50 places to live in the UK. It is also on the borders of the North Kent Downs and Sevenoaks Weald – areas of outstanding natural beauty. Road links are particularly strong to Surrey and Kent. There is access to the M25 via the A21 and the national motorway network onwards from Junction 5. Therefore, city living or country retreats are all accessible for you and your family.
