Physician Associate (Respiratory) Preceptorship

Job Reference: J349-A-19-0094

Bay Medical Group
£30,000 - £34,000 FTE pa

Bay Medical Group is proud to be the general practice serving the population of Morecambe and Heysham. We operate out of 5 sites and deliver general medical services to c54,000 patients.

Formed in 2016/17 by established legacy practices in the town, we are fortunate to be a single at scale provider in a distinct geographical area and as such were able to establish the Primary Care Network (PCN) for Morecambe and Heysham in July 2019, with Bay Medical Group as the only Practice in the PCN.

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We have been successfully diversifying our workforce over the past few years and developing pathways which enable our patients to see the right person, at the right time in the right place. As a Practice and PCN we work closely with our Integrated Care Community and other local health, social care and third sector providers to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population.

Bay Medical Group - for happier, healthier people.

Would you like to be involved in the future development and delivery of our new Chronic Disease service for the patients of Morecambe?

This would involve you initially focusing on respiratory chronic disease, working as part of a multidisciplinary team including GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Practice nurses, Clinical pharmacists and Clinicians from Secondary care, as part of the integrated service delivered by Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network.

At Bay Medical Group we are excited to be able to offer a Preceptorship programme for a Physician Associate who has graduated in the past 12 months. We are embracing new models of care that use this multidisciplinary approach whilst harnessing the enthusiasm of our community to help provide high quality care.

Through this post, you will help us deliver excellent patient care and improve the health and well-being of the people of Morecambe where we provide general practice for the health care needs of over 54,000 patients.

We are able to offer you:

  • Support of a GP mentor
  • A full induction programme
  • You will be part of a supportive team which is developing a new Chronic Disease Service
  • Working in practice seeing a mixture of routine and unscheduled care patients and also home visits
  • Peer support and a planned educational programme for clinical teams
  • The chance to work with students as we are a teaching practice working closely with the Deanery and local universities (as part of the Federation Enhanced Training Practice hub) to support medical students.
  • A large supportive team including back office teams, Practice Nurses, Medicines Management team including pharmacist and Patient Advisors and Admin, which will allow you to focus on what you do best.
  • Holistic approach to care through close working relationships with the extended Primary Care Health Team including in-house physio appointments, Long Term Conditions Team and District Nurses.
  • NHS pension scheme, 25 days (increasing to 30 after one year service)
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days after first year of employment and access to an Occupational Sick pay scheme after first year of service

If you are unable to commit to full time we are happy to explore with you the possibility of part-time hours.

If you are a qualified Physician Associate and you share our vision of providing the best possible general practice care to our patient population, of working in a caring team and of seeking innovative solutions to the challenges of the ever-changing NHS, we look forward to hearing from you soon.
