The Role

Theatre Practitioners-Band 5 (Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners)

Theatre practitioners are required by Princess Alexandra NHS Trust following the opening of new orthopaedic and female surgical wards. You will be part of a talented team dedicated to delivering excellent care and will participate in all aspects of clinical operating department work. We currently have opportunities available for theatre practitioners within the following specialities – anaesthetics and surgery with a basic salary between £24,214 - £30,112 per annum (AFC-Band 5) depending on experience, plus excellent NHS benefits.

This is a full time role, but the Trust is open to hearing from practitioners seeking to negotiate a part-time opportunity; however, fixed hours cannot be guaranteed.

  • Innovative clinical practice – Princess Alexandra Hospital is one of 6 hospitals in the country providing Intra Operative Radiotherapy Treatment for patients with breast cancer. We are linked with University College London Hospital to deliver High Intensity Focus Ultrasound prostatic biopsies. Guided by our Consultant Urology Professor PAH has been pioneering (the first NHS Trust in the country) a new technique to minimise error and maximise training opportunities within urology endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery using an Omnistrator.

The Role - Key duties will include:

  • Delivering high quality effective, individualised care to all patients
  • Communicating effectively at all times and taking an active role in liaising with all disciplines

You - To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary team • For Anaesthetic nurse a specialist post basic qualification is required
