Therapeutic Care Worker for the CAMHS Eating Disorders Service

An opportunity has arisen for a Therapeutic Care Worker at Rhodes Wood Hospital, Hatfield.


Rhodes Wood Hospital specialises in treating children and young people who are diagnosed with an eating disorder and require inpatient or residential, day-care or outpatient care. 


The service provides an innovative and psychologically led treatment approach to support families and young people on managing behaviour that is challenging.


The role includes:

  • Working as a part of the multi-disciplinary team in providing therapeutic care and treatment to the young people and their families.
  • To demonstrate a positive approach and respect to young people and their families at all times.
  • To ensure that the views and opinions of the young people are actively sought and used to support the delivery of family centred care.
  • To help to promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient.
  • To undertake supportive observations as required.
  • To understand the importance of and to ensure that all clinical and legal documents are completed accurately.
  • To take an active role in maintaining effective communication with all professionals involved with the care and management of the patient group
  • To plan and participate in therapeutic activities and trips as required.
  • To regularly participate in supervision, and to attend staff training teaching as required.
  • To support the catering assistant in preparation of meals and snacks when required.



You’ll have:


  • Literacy and Numeracy skills to an acceptable standard
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience of communicating with people at a variety of levels
  • Experience of problem solving
  • Experience of supporting young people (experience in family settings is considered relevant)
  • The ability and willingness to use initiative
  • The ability to be flexible and work as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal English language and communication skills
  • Computer skills – basic level



There is currently no closing date for this role. The role requires individuals to work days, nights and at weekends.
